Mixxx Sound Kit
I've been a strictly vinyl DJ for about 10 years and a strictly Linux user for nearly as long. I've used the various timecode vinyl control systems in their various incarnations over the years through friends and would like to duplicate that functionality on my Ubuntu 10.10 system using Mixxx. The only thing missing from my set-up is the sound card. I've been researching and from what I've read it looks like that this may be a lost cause under Ubuntu.

I just bought the Alesis Mulitmix 8 USB FX Mixer. I do a live talk radio show on spreaker.com I also use mixxx software. I thought I configured everything correctly, but the mixer was not sending out audio to spreaker and mixxx. Had 2 mics, 2 headphones hooked up, even worked great wit ha skype caller, though no audio, etc was output to spreaker. Any insights are much appreciated.

I'd like to have a USB sound card that will work for vinyl control under Linux/Ubuntu 10.10. It seems from what I've read that the main issue is with ALSA drivers not being able to handle 2 simultaneous sets of input and output from the same card, which would be required for mixing in a Serato/Final Scratch type fashion. At least this was the case in discussions about the Maya 44 USB card that everyone seems to recommend. 2 separate internal cards is an option I suppose, but I'd like to be able to use this when I play out with my laptop, rather than just in my home studio.
The threads I've found on this are kind of old, so I'm wondering if this continues to be an issue. Is anyone currently running a full Serato style vinyl control set-up in Linux with a USB audio card? If so, what card? It would make me extreeeeemly happy to not have to reboot into Windows just to mix records.
